Blog Post #1

Hello and welcome to my Blogger! My name is Emily, and I'm a freshman at Florida State University. I've dreamt about becoming a Florida State Seminole for as long as I can remember, so I'm pretty happy to be here. Florida State has been everything I hoped for thus far and has exceeded my expectations. I am majoring in Exceptional Student Education and hope to return to my hometown and teach at the school I once attended. Being in Tallahassee is a dream come true, and I wouldn't change this for the world.

The technology I've used in educational settings ranges from computers to iPads. In my fifth grade class, we were gifted iPads instead of the usual Chromebooks because my teacher wanted to show how different technology can affect students. With these iPads, each of the students learned how to code and actually could code their very own game. I learned how to code a remake of Flappy Bird. My experience doesn't stop there, as throughout my entire middle school career, we used Chromebooks in our daily learning. We used these Chromebooks in the classrooms as learning tools. As a result, I am very familiar with computers and how to navigate different sites.

My personal learning networks (PLN) include many organizations, people, places, and technology-based groups. The organizations I resort to the most are FSU Study Groups, educational social media accounts, and FSU clubs. I'm grateful enough to have many people I could go to when I have questions about the education field. However, I mainly go to my mother as she is a third-grade teacher, past teachers I still have relationships with, and my classmates in my education-driven classes. The places I feel I get the most done are my desk in my apartment, the Florida State University Student Union, and different classrooms around campus. When discussing technology and its use, I feel many people can answer differently. My personal answer is I use my computer and phone as my primary source of technology. On these devices, I frequently use TikTok, as you can find many real-life people who are willing to be genuine about their careers, Twitter groups, and Padlet.
